Graduation Day

Cohort 4 (UK) of META Youth graduated this weekend in a day of celebration, worship and training at Christ Church W4 in London. Gradates gathered from across the country, with many staying for the whole weekend, and others joining on Zoom from Rwanda and Kenya.

The day began with worship and teaching by Stu Wright, drawing from John Stott’s impactful teaching on marriage in The Bible Through the Year. After games and fun there was an extended chance to debrief the recent mission in Kenya and the life changing opportunities to learn and serve. Then after lunch came the graduation ceremony where each young person received a certificate, a framed scripture or prophetic word from leader Kayo, and prayer and anointing with oil as they were commissioned into the wider life and mission of SOMA UK and the META Alumni. The young people then organised a moving thank you to their group leaders, including a basket of presents for everyone who had been on the weekly calls or mission. A particularly moving moment was when they surrounded META youth founder and leader Stu and Susie Wright to pray over them and thank God for all they had invested in them over this summer and this year.

As the day drew to the close, the young people were not done, with most staying on for 90 minutes of passionate intercession and worship led by Risa, Poppy, Eli and Matt.

A SOMA Community of Prayer member, and former headteacher, who joined for the final worship wrote in to say:

‘Meta - wow! What an inspiration those young people are - what a programme it must be - for them and for the future of Meta - you guys have worked hard on it - I was so impressed by them all and their heart for Jesus, their passion and urgency in prayer.’
