Kiryandongo, life and hope in a refugee camp

A multinational team has recently finished serving with and learning from the South Sudanese camps in Kiryandongo, Uganda. More reports to follow after an emotional week that included a number of rapid fire prayer answers.

a fruitful week.

The teaching followed the books of Jonah, Ruth and Ephesians and led to some wonderful times of joy and reconciliation. As the team finished Heather Ireson posted:

So much to praise God for. The conference has gone really well and the delegates showed their appreciation in ways that were quite overwhelming and emotional. God has been hard at work this week and it’s been a joy to see so many smiley faces. We know how much this has meant to them and feel so much love from them.

The team left with some heart-felt prayer requests:

• Please pray for our beloved brothers and sisters in Kiryandongo. They face many many trials and a lot of them feel inadequate in their understanding of the Bible (this week has helped). Hopefully the partnership, friendships we’ve built and linking up James & Beatrice (SOMA Uganda) can continue to help train and support the church here.

• Please pray for the pastors & youth leaders of the churches here that face many troubles/hardships in their leadership

• Pray for the young adults who have no opportunities after education, pray that they stay close to Jesus despite how disheartening this is and stand firm against pressure to commit crimes or sin.

• Pray for the many single mothers that have either been widowed or deserted.

• Pray that the progress made this week to unite the different tribes would continue and not slip back

• Pray for peace in their home countries so they can go home.

• Pray that they would keep up their good works, ministries and amazing things they are doing together here!
