SOMA Mission to Tanga Diocese

A SOMA team has recently returned from encouraging ministry in Tanga Diocese, Tanzania, where they partnered with the local church for the Diocesan Conference and visited churches across the Diocese. From the moment they gathered at the airport in London, the team set out with a simple prayer: that God would move powerfully throughout the mission. Thanks to the faithful prayers of supporters at home, they experienced His presence every step of the way.

After a long journey, the team arrived safely in Tanga, where they were warmly welcomed by the Archbishop. From the opening sessions, it was clear that God was at work. The conference was filled with inspiring teaching, heartfelt worship, personal testimonies and opportunities for prayer ministry. The team witnessed the Holy Spirit moving in powerful ways, bringing encouragement and renewal to those gathered.

As the week progressed, the conference continued to build momentum. Alongside teaching and worship, the team became increasingly aware of deeper pastoral needs among those attending. In response, dedicated men's and women's sessions were arranged, creating space to address sensitive issues with honesty, compassion and prayer. These times proved to be some of the most significant moments of the week.

The mission was not without its challenges but throughout it all, they were sustained by the prayers of SOMA community of Prayer.

The final days of the mission extended beyond the conference itself. After spending time with diocesan leaders, the team travelled out on Sunday morning to preach, lead worship, read Scripture, celebrate Holy Communion and pray with congregations in two local churches.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for the team throughout the mission. Your prayers made a real difference. Please continue to pray for the churches and leaders in Tanga Diocese, that the work God began during the conference will continue to bear fruit long into the future.
