SOMA Kenya grateful for META mission
We are so grateful for the developing partnership between SOMA Kenya and SOMA UK in this further opportunity to learn together and from each other as 30+ members of the META Youth team (leaders and young people) visited Kisii and Mbeere.
The team were joined for the duration by Moses Kimani who had previously met with our National Director in his 2025 visit and joined in with what Richard later described as his most ‘fruitful hour of mission all year’ - as they ministered together to spiritually hungry young people at a boys boarding school. Again in 2026 Moses was a guide, leader and companion as the META team crossed the nation to visit with the Anglican Church of Kenya Provincial Youth Conference (2000+ attendees) and then on to help lead a mission in Mbeere to young people. The ACK conference was opened by his Grace The Most Rev Dr Jackson Ole Sapit, Archbishop of Kenya.
SOMA Kenya board member Revd Cpt Dr Mary Ngare was delighted to help host the second part of the META youth mission in Mbeere. A highlight for her was that it enabled her to reconnect with her ‘spiritual son’ through his daughter being on the team! In 2025 while helping him as a team member in South Sudan, Mary had announced SOMA UK’s younger National Director as her ‘son.’ This year Richard’s daughter joined the team as one of the junior leaders, so Mary writes:
‘I am so excited to hear from you my Son. I met my granddaughter!! That made the Mission even sweeter. Mother Mary is doing well, still praising God for His unfailing love.
The Mission was 💯 successful with around 30 giving their lives to Jesus, a couple of them being filled with the Spirit of God.
They were left wishing it continued a bit longer. I have talked to some of them and they give a very positive report about how the META YOUTH delivered the program was awesome. They wish we could hold another one of its kind. It was so impactful.’
It was very powerful. The last day was so powerful. The Holy Spirit visited us powerfully.

Moses who went above and beyond on the mission writes:
‘Thanks for checking in. I'm doing well. It's been a week of much needed rest. The mission was fabulous! The young guys... they are the best youth team I've ever hosted. We had a blast! God was good to us all the way. He used the META UK youth to minister to our young people (mostly young adults). And I'm sure the UK youth were also deeply impacted.
Can't wait to start META Youth Kenya.’
Revd Tom Otieno, National Director of SOMA Kenya, had previously celebrated the opportunity Stu Wright had to present META Youth to the ACK Youth Leaders in May, saying ‘this is a great step and we will build on it.’ After this summer he concluded that META IS ‘very well organized and executed…’ where the young people ‘got a life changing Missions encounter that will definitely alter the trajectory of their lives in a positive Godly way’
