Encountering the Spirit: Lessons from the Global Church
Matt Morgan, an intern working for soma uk , recently joined a mission trip travelling to “Country X” in Asia, it was his first mission trip to Asia and proved to be just as astonishing as he was expecting. He says:
“Going into the trip I wasn't quite sure what to expect and was rather nervous. After the first section of the trip I was amazed at the hunger of people across all different ages to learn more about Jesus. I was particularly struck by this whilst visiting a bible college and meeting the students there who had such a hunger for the lord.
The trip deepened my faith more than i thought possible and i felt the spirit in a way i havent for quite a while particularly in moments where i was preaching ( Something very outside of my comfort zone) but i felt a peace that could only have come from the lord and felt such encouragement in that moment.
One big thing I'm taking home with me is a new understanding of the oppressed church. Particularly how much they rely on the spirit and the focus they have on speaking in tongues and dedicating large portions of their time to invite the holy spirit into every area of their lives. Overall It was a life changing experience.”
