Encouraged by the Global Church

SOMA UK was delighted to support recent visits to St Peter’s Farnborough from Bishop Abraham and Bishop Nason, who shared inspiring stories of how God is moving through the global Church.

Bishop Abraham spoke movingly about the remarkable growth of the Church in his state, despite the weekly persecution many Christians face. He challenged the congregation to be bold in sharing the gospel, reminding them that Jesus is the best gift we have. Reflecting on evangelism, he said:

“We are scared to tell people about Jesus as we feel we may be offending people. Instead, we need to see that we are giving them an opportunity.”

His message encouraged the church to embrace a renewed mindset of confidence and compassion in sharing their faith.

Bishop Nason encouraged the congregation to stand alongside the global Church in prayer, highlighting the importance of seeking God faithfully in every circumstance. He shared stories of the phenomenal growth within his diocese, rooted in a deep dependence on prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit.

The visits served as a powerful reminder of the importance of strengthening links between churches across the world and learning from the faith, courage and prayerfulness of the global Church.

Tim Bateman, Vicar of St Peter’s, said:
“It was really encouraging to hear how God is moving powerfully in Uganda and India. It has challenged us to be more rooted in prayer and courageous as we share who Jesus is with others.”
