Burundians in London

It was a great joy to meet with Burundian friends at the Leadership Conference by Alpha in London at the start of May. We are hoping that this may lead to all sorts of exciting possibilities in Burundi and beyond. After a lunch with Richard the delegates led by Revd Jean Claude Ngiyimbere were keen to both join SOMA international teams - including the summer mission in Uganda and to host teams going forward. They headed up to Cranmer Hall to meet with Steve Muneza and on the agenda for a conversation with one of our key UK contacts was what it would take to launch a SOMA Burundi and how that might help serve God’s mission in the region.

The Conference also gave a chance to connect with a variety of SOMA leaders, team members and contributors, including Claire Clarke on our National Leadership Team and Cameron Benoy, an ordinand at St Mellitus who is heading to Liwolo Diocese in South Sudan on a team led by Paul and Becky Harcourt. We also caught up with a delegation from the middle-east and interviewed Nabil Shehadi for the new Learning Cohorts videos, and networked with some of our UK bishops.
