A Warm Welcome in North Kigezi Diocese

There was a wonderful welcome waiting for our SOMA UK team as they arrived in North Kigezi Diocese, Uganda.

Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe and Maama Florence welcomed the team with dinner at the Bishop's Residence, joined by members of the diocesan leadership. It was a special evening of friendship, shared stories and looking ahead to the week of ministry together.

During the evening, Bishop Onesimus reflected on the lasting impact of the missionaries who first brought the Gospel to Uganda, giving thanks for their faithful witness. In response, our team leader, Rev. Ben, spoke about the opportunities and challenges facing the Church in Europe today, encouraging us all to continue sharing the Gospel across cultures and continents as we learn from one another.

The team has already been busy visiting schools, community projects and the Emmanuel Cathedral building site, meeting people whose lives and ministries are making a real difference across the Diocese. Over the coming days they'll also spend time at Kisiizi Hospital, local schools and churches, joining in with evangelistic outreach and encouraging local congregations.

This visit is another chapter in the long-standing friendship between SOMA UK and North Kigezi Diocese. We're excited to see what God will do through the conversations, worship, prayer and ministry that lie ahead.

Please keep the team—and everyone they'll meet—in your prayers throughout the week.
