Anglican Primates’ Meeting at Lambeth Palace

Many of the Primates of the Anglican Communion have been gathering this week in London for pre-Lambeth Conference discussions, study and reflection.

Richard Moy, SOMA UK’s National Director was fortunate to be able to visit and spend some time with The Most Revd. Dr Justin Badi Arama, the Archbishop of South Sudan, Chair of Global South and SOMA International while he was in London and also be introduced to other Primates including Archbishops of Jerusalem, Sudan, Indian Ocean, Chile, Tanzania, West Africa, Central Africa, Burundi.

It was both humbling and encouraging to see these leaders of exciting and growing provinces gathering at Lambeth Palace and being an encouragement us in the West to stay faithful to Christ with all the pressures on discipleship we face here. Some the Archbishops serve in such difficult contexts and it was moving to hear firsthand a small bit of the pressures faced in Congo from The Most Revd. Georges Titre Ande.

As SOMA continues to work to connect the church worldwide our prayers are with these inspirational Primates who have so much to teach us here in the West.

It was also a great joy to bump into our very own London Diocese, Bishop of Islington, Ric Thorpe, who was planning Plant Anglican seminars with the Archbishop of Chile.
