South Sudan - Character
Rt Revd Jackson Aripa Gabriel, Assistant Bishop of Juba, opened the latest SOMA mission in South Sudan today as delegates from across Central Equatoria gathered for a leadership intensive.
These missions are co-sponsored through the generosity of the Relay Trust and fit into the ongoing Anglican Discipleship Programme launched by Most Rev Justin Badi, Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, under the leadership of Most Revd Samuel Peni, Archbishop of The Internal Province of Western Equatoria.
A particular joy for this mission is the international team comprising of SOMA UK and SOMA Kenya members. The newly founded SOMA Kenya has sent two delegates, experienced priests Revd Capt Alice Wanjiku Kiara and Revd Alfred Onditi Apela to join Jonathan Parkhouse and Richard Moy from the UK.
The teaching programme will then move on to Eastern Equatoria on Friday as the series continues to tour each Internal Province, reaching handpicked young leaders in each location.
Teaching looks at equipping us in calling and growing in competency, but the key emphasis as ever in on an encounter with God that helps us keep a character that pleases him. Leaders need to be people of character, competency and calling - the hardest of which to maintain in character. Teaching modules will look at the life of Gideon as an examples, as well as forgiveness, restoration and using gifts in ministry.
Please keep the delegates and team in your prayers.
