META Mission: Back to the Start
Stu Wright flew over to Ireland last week to catch God’s heart for the community and learn how the META Youth can serve and grow on mission this summer. His visit coincided with the licensing of Henry Blair as Rector of the LAMP Parishes serving one of the parts of Ireland most associated with St Patrick. A few days later Henry also was installed as Dean of Down Cathedral.
After an exciting first day staying at the RIOT Youth hostels, where the META Youth will be based, and touring sites with Henry Blair, Richard Moy flew over to meet him, visit with Bishop David and Hilary McClay and speak at the licensing. It was a tremendous time with a sense of God at work among them, bringing hearts together and directing strategy for the summer.
Down Cathedral has been a really special place for Richard since the 2023 ‘Turning the Tide’ SOMA Mission to the Diocese of Down and Dromore, and it feels like a ‘back to the start’ moment for SOMA Ireland leader Henry Blair to be installed there, and for the META Youth to be deployed there on a mission in Henry’s first summer. Who knows how God will shape this new generations of mission minded young people as they gather in St Patrick’s heartland.
God is good.
Watch Stu talk about being outside Down Cathedral as he preps for the mission.
