You have come as the doctors…

The joint SOMA UK and SOMA Kenya team has just returned to Juba from a wonderful day conference for Jonglei internal province.

100 youth leaders gathered from 10 dioceses and two overseas areas, in a full church where delegates were also joined by observers, many clergy and three members of the house of Bishops

The final ceremony saw a rush of children into the church dancing and singing with all their might.

The team were continuing the internal province missions, focusing on character, competency and calling in leadership and how person and power of the Holy Spirit enables each of these.

The team was made up of Revd Dr Helen Collins from Trinity College Bristol, Jael Veen from Christ Church W4 in London, Richard Moy National Director SOMA UK and Revd Zadock Otieno from Nairobi Cathedral Diocese and Revd Capt Mary Rukungiri from Mount Kenya diocese.

A particular focus became the need to operate in forgiveness, and there was a real shift overnight in response to this teaching and ministry. We got to listen to the powerful and tragic stories that many in the province had experienced with family members murdered, livelihoods ruined and property stolen. However, the SOMA Kenya team members had lived through their own troubles during post election uprising and were able to speak from personal experience about the benefits of preserving character, reconciliation and forgiveness. This led to some deep work in Youth leaders lives that was a privilege to see. One of the youth leaders  commented at the end you have come as the doctors and brought us spiritual life.

We continue to pray for the fruits of this mission.
